Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet announced today the appointment of Benjamin W. (Ben) Mays as the county’s Chief Financial Officer and Director of the Department of Management and Financial Services, effective December 6, 2012. Mays has been serving as Acting Director since May.
Mays joined Loudoun County as Budget Officer in 1992 and served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer before being appointed as Acting Director in May.
“I believe Mr. Mays will continue the path paved by the county’s immediate past Chief Financial Officer Mark Adams, by providing sound leadership and great financial stewardship of Loudoun County tax dollars,” said Hemstreet.
Mays has more than 27 years of financial and local government experience. His areas of expertise include operational budget development and management, capital budgeting, fiscal impact analysis, and debt issuance and administration. He holds a bachelor’s degree in government from the College of William and Mary.
